The gospel story is filled with meals, opening in a garden and ending in a feast. Research suggests that early Christian worshippers met primarily to share meals, but over time churches have decentralized the focus on food.
Today, a new movement is under way, bringing Christians of every denomination, age, race, and sexual orientation together around dinner tables. Men and women hesitant to step through church doors are finding faith in new ways as they eat together.
Kendall Vanderslice, graduate of the BU Gastronomy program and recent recepient of a master's in theological studies from Duke University, shares stories of worship around the table, and introduces the contemporary dinner-church movement.

Just in time for the holiday season, maestra of regional Italian cuisine Dame Mary Ann Esposito leads this hands-on class on antipasti, the perfect delectable bites for entertaining. After working with Mary Ann in the kitchen, participants will sit down to table to enjoy the fruits of their labor along with wine pairings selected by Guy Esposito, Mary Ann's husband and a wine educator with accreditation from the United States Sommelier Association.
Each attendee will also receive a copy of Mary Ann's latest book, Ciao Italia: My Lifelong Food Adventure in Italy.
Mary Ann is a prolific cookbook author, culinary teacher, and the host of America's longest-running cooking show Ciao Italia.

During her undergrad, grad and post-grad years, she has lived in various cities in Italy: studying, teaching, attending culinary school and working in one of Florence’s most popular restaurants. With each return to Italy, Miriam has been fortunate to discover more about these amazing locales and connect with fascinating chefs and artisans who are equally passionate about their work and their culture.
She would very much like to share these unique experiences, some of her favorites, with a small group of like-minded food-lovers, so that together, you can taste all Italy has to offer from an insider’s perspective.
You will learn about the ancient process of making Balsamic Vinegar, spend an afternoon wine-tasting in Emilia-Romagna, learn to make an authentic meal in Parma, explore an outdoor market in Florence, and spend and entire day on an organic farm outside Perugia.
